Diamond bands have more flexibility than any other wedding jewelry. These are your three biggest decisions:
Metal Color
Match your engagement ring metal for a seamless look — or mix metals intentionally for contrast. Both are great choices.
Karat
14kt is the most popular — strong, durable, and a good gold content. 18kt is richer in color. 10kt is the most affordable and very durable for everyday wear.
Stone Type
- Natural Diamonds — mined from the earth. Each one is unique. Traditional choice with strong resale value.
- Lab-Grown Diamonds — chemically and visually identical to natural diamonds, just made in a lab. Significantly more affordable — same sparkle, lower price, more stone for your budget.
- Gemstones — sapphires, emeralds, rubies, and more. A great way to add color and personality. Birthstones are especially popular for anniversary bands.
Not sure which stone type is right for you? We'll walk you through the tradeoffs at your consultation — no pressure either way.
How far the stones go around the band changes everything — the look, the price, and whether the ring can be resized later.
| Coverage | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Full | Maximum sparkle. Stones visible at every angle. | Cannot be resized. Highest price. |
| ¾ | Looks like full eternity when worn. Usually resizable. | Tiny plain section on the palm side — invisible when wearing. |
| Half | Most comfortable. Easiest to resize. Most affordable. | Stones on top half only. Less visible from the side. |
For most customers who want the eternity look without giving up the ability to resize, ¾ eternity is the sweet spot.
These bands are designed to sit alongside an engagement ring. There are several approaches depending on your ring and your style:
- Exact Matching Band — a wedding band made from the same metal, width, and shank design as your engagement ring. When worn together they look like one continuous piece. Works best when both rings are purchased or custom made together.
- Complementary Band — same style family as your engagement ring but not identical. Similar metal and feel, slightly different detail. A good option if you want cohesion without a perfect match.
- Different Stone Shape — your engagement ring is a solitaire, your band has small marquise or pear diamonds that echo the center stone shape. Adds visual interest and personality without competing with the main stone.
- Contour Band — a band with a curved or chevron shape that bends around the center stone of your engagement ring. Sits flush at the base with no gap. Essential for larger stones, high settings, or unusual shapes like marquise or oval where a straight band would rock or leave space.
- Ring Guard — two matching bands, one on each side of the engagement ring. Frames the center stone completely and creates a full bridal set look. Often used to add diamonds on both sides of a solitaire.
Because fit depends so heavily on your specific stone shape, setting height, and shank width, this is one of the most collaborative purchases we do. Browse the ring enhancer styles below to find what appeals to you, then bring your ring to your consultation and we'll find the right fit.
